Ride to Work eBike Schemes NZ

Christchurch Electric Bicycles are excited to be an approved retailer for WorkRide, Northride and The Wheel Deal ride to work schemes.

These schemes are the easiest ways to save on an electric bike for commuting.

How do WorkRide, Northride & The Wheel Deal work?

These are salary sacrifice schemes that allows employees to pay for a bike from their pre-tax income.

This means:

  • your taxable income is reduced
  • you pay less tax
  • the real cost of your bike is significantly lower

Depending on your income and employer, you can save up to 63% off the advertised price of an eBike.

You can calculate your estimated savings on the Workride site.

What is a ride to work scheme?

A ride to work scheme (also called a bike to work scheme) lets you lease or purchase a bike through your employer using salary sacrifice. These schemes were made possible by recent changes to New Zealand fringe benefit tax (FBT) rules, approved by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).

They are designed to make commuting by bike more affordable and accessible.

What bikes are eligible?

  • Almost all the eBikes we sell are eligible for WorkRide and Northride
  • A 5% surcharge may apply depending on the provider
  • Fitted equipment is included, but removable accessories are not
  • Northride has the option of including servicing in the package.

Whether you're after a commuter eBike, cargo bike for school runs, or a premium electric bike, WorkRide, Northride and The Wheel Deal make it much easier to get on the right bike for your daily commute.
